Frequently asked questions

Is Explorer really free forever?

Yes. Explorer is a permanent free tier, not a time-limited trial. You can search, browse the map, and receive one weekly alert indefinitely. The 20-view monthly limit resets on the 1st of each month.

What counts as a "detail view"?

Opening a full detail page — either a planning application (with the full project brief, constraints, and council portal link) or a developer profile (with every application that developer has submitted across the UK). Browsing the map, scrolling search results, and searching for developers by name do not count toward your limit. The 20/month budget is shared across both types.

How does SiteLens compare to Glenigan or Barbour ABI?

SiteLens gives you classified planning data across every UK council — filtered by trade and project type, searchable and alertable from the moment you sign up. No sales call, no contract, no minimum term. Enterprise platforms charge £5,000–50,000/year and are built for large research teams. SiteLens is built for individuals and small teams who need to find the right projects quickly, at a price that makes commercial sense.

Can I switch between monthly and annual billing?

Yes, at any time from your account settings. Switching to annual is prorated — you only pay the difference. Switching from annual to monthly takes effect at the end of your current annual period.

What happens when I hit the 20-view limit on Explorer?

You'll see an upgrade prompt in place of the detail page. Your saved alert, search, map, analytics and filter access continue unaffected. The limit resets on the 1st of each month, or you can upgrade to Pro for unlimited access at any time.

Do you offer API access or enterprise pricing?

Not as a standard self-serve tier. If you need bulk data access, API integration, or custom pricing for a larger team, email us and we'll work something out.

Can I use SiteLens data for outbound sales or cold outreach?

SiteLens provides planning application data that is already public information published by councils. Applicant and agent names are part of the public planning record. However, you are responsible for complying with PECR and UK GDPR when contacting individuals. Business-to-business communications (e.g. emailing a construction company) are generally permitted under PECR's soft opt-in rules, but direct marketing to sole traders or individuals requires consent. We recommend taking legal advice on your specific use case.
